At Ashknoll farm we have been breedingnationally ranked warmblood sporthorses for over 30 years. We apply that same knowledge and experience to our cats and kittens. I had Siamese cats back when I was a teenager and even bred Burmese for a while. When I decided to get back into cat breeding I was looking for a breed that was as friendly as my Siamese and Burmese cats I remembered as a child, sound of health and mind. I looked at the UC Davis genetics site to see which genetic disorders went with which breed. Watching cats 101 I found out about the Khao Manee, a natural breed in Thailand that had a velcro cat reputation. This led me to investigating several websites about traditional Thai Cats. Especially the Thai Cat center and The International Maew Boran Association. These were the genetically sound friendly cats of my youth I was looking for. My goal is to breed health sound cats that excel both as pets and in the show ring. Ideal examples of the breed. With the developing Optimal-selection genetic test I know test all my breeding cats for over 40 possible genetic defects. They have all turned up clean. We will continue to use these tests to ensure any cat that we breed has the best possible chance for a long and healthy life.
